Callyst vs Gong (2026)

A large block of linked boxes and a single checklist page joined by a thin line, showing a full revenue platform next to a focused call-scoring tool.

Written by Callyst, which makes one of the two tools. Facts about Gong come from Gong's own pages, read on 31 October 2026. Products and prices change, so follow the links before you decide. If we have got something wrong, email us and we will fix it.

What is the difference between Callyst and Gong?

Callyst scores your recorded sales calls on your own scorecard and shows the quote behind each item score when one checks out. It suits teams of any size, and the price is on the page: $200 a month for 1 to 3 reps, $280 for 4 to 7, and $40 per rep from 8.

Gong, as of 31 Oct 2026, calls itself a "Revenue AI OS": a platform that captures customer interactions, with forecasting, sales engagement and enablement around them. It suits revenue teams that want those in one place. Gong's price is not shown publicly. Its pricing page, as of 31 Oct 2026, says licences are priced per user, with a platform fee based on the number of users supported, and offers a customised proposal.

Both can score calls on a scorecard your team writes. The table shows how they go about it.

When does Callyst fit?

Callyst fits when the job is "score our recorded calls on our checklist, and point managers and reps at the calls that matter".

  • You have your own checklist. Send your scorecard as written, or paste a checklist and the free scorecard builder drafts one for you to read (the checklist text is sent to our AI model provider to write the draft, so leave real customer names and details out of it). How to use your own scorecard has the steps.
  • You want to see the evidence. Item scores come with a quote from the call. Each quote is checked word for word against the transcript. If no quote checks out, the score shows without one. The overall score comes with a short written reason.
  • You want a short list of calls to hear. Put your own checks on the scorecard as flags, each with a severity and a word-for-word quote. Add your compliance checks to the scorecard and Callyst flags the calls that miss them, with the quote. A flag whose quote isn't in the transcript is dropped. Flags are a separate list for a person to review. Raising a flag does not change the call's score.
  • You want reps to get a coaching note. In a paying workspace, on weekday mornings, each active rep with an email address on the Team page who had at least three scored calls the previous working day gets a short email: what went well, what to fix, what to say instead.
  • You want to know the price before you talk to anyone. Each rep includes 1,000 calls a month, shared across the team. There is no setup fee and no platform fee. See pricing.
  • You use any phone system. If it can export recordings, Callyst can score them. See phone systems.
  • You want to test it on your own calls first. The free check scores up to 10 of your calls.

Good to know: Callyst scores calls in English from recordings you send. Scores, flags and coaching notes are generated by AI and can be wrong. Review them before acting, especially before any step that affects a person's job or pay.

When does Gong fit?

Gong's pages describe a revenue platform. It is a good fit when:

  • You want call capture connected to your email, CRM, web conferencing and phone system in one platform. Gong's setup guide, updated 4 Sep 2025, covers each connection.
  • You want forecasting (Gong Forecast), sales engagement (Gong Engage) and enablement (Gong Enable) from the same vendor as your call analysis.
  • You want scorecard question types beyond a scale and yes/no, such as multi-select and open-ended, and scoring by a person, with AI suggestions, or automatically.
  • Your phone system is on Gong's list of supported telephony systems, updated 19 Jan 2026, and you want it connected directly.
  • You are happy to get a customised proposal rather than a published price.

How do you try Callyst?

The free check scores up to 10 of your own calls. It is free, one per company, with no card and no call with sales first. You need a work email, because Gmail, Outlook and other free addresses cannot be used.

  1. Fill in the free-check form with your name, work email and company. On the same form you can add your own scorecard.
  2. Click the sign-in link in your email. It works once and expires after 15 minutes.
  3. Upload your calls on your private upload page: .wav or .mp3, up to 50 MB each. Tick the permission box only if the people on the calls, and your company, allow Callyst to process the recordings. You are responsible for having the right to record your calls, including any consent that recording laws require.
  4. Press Done, build my report. Your scored report arrives within 24 hours, by email with the headline numbers and a link to the full report online.

Can I score calls on my own scorecard in Callyst and in Gong?

Yes, in both. Callyst loads your scorecard as written, and uses its standard sales scorecard if you have none. For a paid workspace, you send us changes and we update it. Gong's help pages describe custom scorecards with five question types and scoring by a person, with AI suggestions, or automatically. See software that scores calls against your own scorecard for how the options compare.

Does Callyst work with my phone system?

Callyst works with any phone system that can export recordings. You export the files, upload them, and Callyst transcribes the audio for you. Callyst has no built-in connection to any phone system, so the steps are the same for every one. The phone systems page has export guides for GoTo Connect, RingCentral and Aircall. Gong's list of supported telephony systems is in its help centre, so check yours there.

How long does Callyst keep my recordings?

Audio is deleted 30 days after scoring, and no recording is kept longer than 35 days. Transcripts, scores and flags are kept until you cancel. All of your workspace's data is deleted within 30 days of cancelling. Our AI model provider gets text only, such as the transcript and your scorecard, never the audio. Your data is not used to train AI models. Upload only calls you have the right to record and use; is it legal to record and score sales calls? covers the basics. Ask any vendor, Gong included, for its own retention period in writing.
